Burnout. It’s all too common in today’s world. We get lost in the illusion of reaching perfection and forget that actually, we’re just human. We push and push ourselves until we can’t take it anymore and more often than not, end up completely falling apart. This is when we need to take a step back and realise that we’re not perfect and never will be. We’ll have plenty of lows and bad days alongside the good, and there are going to be many times that we feel like life is too much too handle. And that’s OK. There are many ways we can get ourselves out of the rabbit hole. If you’re feeling stuck in a rut or just a bit overwhelmed with life, here are 5 simple steps to help you revamp your world:
1. Take a break
In a world that is constantly switched on and always working, it becomes hard to take a break. But sometimes you just need to take time out and relax- you have a right to. You need to hear your own thoughts for a while. Take a bubble bath, read a good book or watch your favourite movie. This will relax your body and mind. Life isn’t all about working. Keeping that solid line between work and downtime is essential if you want to get your life back on track. Give yourself all the time you need.
2. Plan a fun activity
This goes hand in hand with taking a break from work. We need to allow ourselves to have a little bit of fun in life. This could be going out to dinner, a concert, a party or anything else you enjoy doing. We need to have fun and appreciate the little things in life more. Life may not be fun 24/7 but making a point of doing something you enjoy will be very much needed to get your life back on track.
3. Talk to someone
Sometimes when we’re feeling overwhelmed, all we really want is to be understood. Send out all the texts and calls you can to friends and family. Don’t feel like you’re weak or being a burden for doing so. A good conversation with a loved one is the perfect way to bring you back to reality- you need to hear from the people that believe in you the most. This will help you declutter your mind and you’ll start to see things in a more positive light.
Creating a minimal lifestyle is a great way to get your life back on track. Having people and things we don’t want or need in life weighs us down. A clean, spacious area is one of the best ways to promote wellbeing. You can start simple too- this could be cleaning out that junk drawer that is overflowing with unnecessary items. Then you can progress onto cleaning a whole room, then eventually your whole house. Get rid of everything that doesn’t actively make your life better. Remember, a messy house equals a messy mind!
5. Create a dream board
Creating a dream board is the final step to helping you get your life back on track. Write, cut out magazine pictures and gather ideas. Remind yourself of your goals and aspirations. There are so many places you have left to see and things you have left to do in this life! Begin putting everything together on your board then hang it somewhere that you’ll see it every day. You don’t have to know how you’ll achieve everything on your board, just believe that you will somehow.
