A South American Itinerary | Future Travel Planning

south american itinerary

I’ve wanted to visit South America for the longest time because of all the lovely people I’ve met from there. Countless people I’ve met from Columbia, Argentina, Brazil and Chile have told me to come and visit their country because it’s so beautiful- they are all very proud of where they live. I also really want to visit all 7 continents in my life and aside from Antarctica, South America is the only one left.Β  So to help speed up my trip plans, I wrote out my ideal South American itinerary.Β I’m a low-key hippie and believe that your mind creates your reality. So by writing out a pretend itinerary, it will hopefully happen faster.

My perfect South American itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Manaus, Brazil

Days 2 & 3

Take a tour and explore the Amazon rainforest.

Day 4

Fly to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Days 5 & 6

Visit Copacabana, see the ‘Christ the redeemer’ statue, take a Portuguese language class and visit Joatinga beach.

Day 7

Go see the Rio Carnival parade (obviously I’d ensure my trip coincided)

Days 8 & 9

Iguazu falls, Argentina

Days 10, 11 & 12

Travel to and explore Buenos Aires, Argentina

Days 13, 14 & 15

Travel to and spend a few days at Torres del Paine national park, Chiletorres_del_paine.jpg

Days 16 & 17

Visit Santiago, Chile and roam around the city

Days 18 & 19

Visit the Bolivian desert and salt flats

Admittedly, I had to cut my South American itinerary short because otherwise I’d have been here alllll day writing about all of the places I wanted to go. But I think this is a good start- don’t these places look beautiful?

Where would you most like to go on this list? What would your dream South American itinerary look like? If there’s anywhere else you would recommend visiting, please let me know in the comments.

  1. I have just moved to Santiago and think it’s great you have it on your list – maybe you’d also be interested in visiting the Atacama Desert? I am yet to go, but have heard it’s incredible. And Valparaiso is very cool as well (only a 1 and a half hour bus-ride from Santiago). Great blog idea!
